Robert Pfaff III, 40, was killed in the crash on Wednesday, Oct. 2, the Middle Township Police Department said in a news release. Officers responded to the wreck on Route 47 near Bayway Marina in the Goshen section of the township at around 3:15 p.m.
Investigators said a white Subaru was heading north on Route 47 when it tried to make a left turn into the marina's parking lot. The SUV turned in front of a black Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by Pfaff and the vehicles crashed.
Pfaff and a 33-year-old woman were ejected from the motorcycle. They were airlifted to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Atlantic City Division.
Pfaff was pronounced dead at the hospital and the woman was listed in critical condition as of Thursday, Oct. 3. No injuries were reported in the SUV.
The Cape May County Prosecutor's Office is helping Middle Township police in the investigation. Cape May Court House and Goshen firefighters responded to the scene, along with AtlantiCare paramedics.
The crash closed down Route 47 for about four hours.
